A day after the midterms, President Trump urged the Senate to take up the Sunshine Protection Act, which the House passed 308-117 in July. The bill would end the twice-yearly clock change, but the Senate has not voted on it.
The House passed a bill in July to make daylight saving time permanent, but Senate Republicans are blocking it and the bill expires in early January. Clocks turn back at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
Trump told a Mississippi rally and Truth Social that the Senate is letting the daylight saving bill die. With no deal in sight, clocks still go back this weekend, one week before the midterms.
