An Ohio sheriff is investigating three men after a woman heckling President Donald Trump at a Youngstown rally earlier this month said she was tackled and punched. No one has been charged, even though Sheriff Jerry Greene of Mahoning County says video shows the woman being struck in the face 1.
The woman is Blake Miley, 29. Investigators are waiting for her medical records to decide whether the evidence supports misdemeanor or felony charges 1. The sheriff said the severity of her injuries could help determine the level of any charge 1.
What Miley says happened
Miley told The New York Times she stood halfway through Trump's speech, revealed a homemade shirt reading “RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES,” and shouted, “Fascist, fascist!” 1 She said a man reached toward her neck and pushed her backward. Video then shows another person appearing to drag her down, put her in a headlock, pull her hair and hit her 1.
She recalled being struck twice before deputies reached her about 30 seconds later 1. Deputies removed her from the arena while the other participants stayed inside. One man raised his fists and exchanged high-fives with nearby attendees, the Times reported 1.

What the sheriff says
Greene said body-camera footage shows deputies forcing their way through the crowd and not seeing the punch 1. He said as many as 800 messages reached his office, including abusive ones 1.
Investigators have identified three suspected participants. One, a New Jersey resident, wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post that he and two friends had “subdued her and threw her to the concrete,” Greene said. Authorities believe the other two men are local and that one of them threw the punch. Interviews were expected in the following days 1.
I knew there was a really good possibility that this would happen,
Miley's lawyer, civil rights attorney Subodh Chandra, is representing her without charge. He told the Times he was “persuaded that they are trying to do their jobs.” If authorities do not bring a case, he said, Ohio law lets a citizen submit an allegation for judicial review 1.
Trump's remarks from the stage
From the stage, Trump called Miley “scum” and “low-class” and made remarks about her weight. He also alleged she had been paid, which she denies 1. She said no group coordinated or financed her appearance 1. Video of the attack spread widely online, and local authorities had not confirmed any arrests or charges as of Oct. 14 2.
The Epstein and Medicaid backdrop
Miley said the Epstein records matter to her because she experienced abuse in a previous relationship 1. Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act on Nov. 19, 2025. Before that, he had told House Republicans there was “nothing to hide” 1. The Justice Department's inspector general opened an audit in April of how the department handled those records, and the audit is still listed as ongoing 1.
Miley also told the Times she fears losing Medicaid, the government health program for low-income people. Frequent seizures have kept her from working since April 1. Starting Jan. 1, 2027, certain Ohio adults covered through Medicaid expansion must complete 80 hours a month of work, job training, community service or school, unless exempt 1. It is unclear whether her seizures would qualify her for an exemption 1. The requirement comes from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Trump signed on July 4, 2025 1.
What happens next is up to investigators, who are reviewing interviews and hospital records 1. That matters because the case tests whether a violent act at a political rally leads to charges, and the midterm election is Nov. 3 1.
