U.S. House — South Carolina's 1st District · First run

Nancy Lacore

Nancy Lacore is a retired Navy vice admiral who won the Democratic runoff on June 23, 2026. She faces Charleston County Councilwoman Jenny Costa Honeycutt in an open seat that Cook Political Report moved from Likely Republican to Lean Republican on Oct. 16.

On the ballot against Jenny Costa Honeycutt (R)

Why it matters: The coastal 1st District has been Republican-held since 2020 and is open because Nancy Mace left it to run for governor, and both parties are spending heavily: Cook cited NRCC and Congressional Leadership Fund support for Honeycutt.
