U.S. House — Nevada's 2nd District · First run

Teresa Benitez-Thompson

Teresa Benitez-Thompson is a former Nevada Assembly Majority Leader from Reno who most recently served as chief of staff to Attorney General Aaron Ford. She is running for the open seat of retiring Rep. Mark Amodei in a district Trump carried by 14 points in 2024. Forecasters still see Republican David Flippo as the favorite, though Democrats have added the race to their list of districts in play.

On the ballot against David Flippo (R)

Why it matters: The seat has never been held by a Democrat and is open after Amodei's retirement, so a win would be a notable Democratic pickup in Northern Nevada.
