How to search the files, and our ground rules

  1. Start at the Justice Department's Epstein Library. The site asks you to confirm you are 18 or older and warns that some files describe abuse. justice.gov/epstein ↗
  2. Browse by release. The DOJ Disclosures page lists Data Sets 1 to 12, the court-case folders, FOIA releases and the department's letters to Congress. DOJ Disclosures ↗
  3. Search by name or word. Most files are scanned pages. Handwritten notes and poor scans may not turn up in a search, so try more than one spelling. Search the library ↗
  4. Read what Congress released. The House Oversight Committee posts the estate records, the 'birthday book' and the deposition transcripts and videos. Oversight Committee ↗
  5. Read the court files. CourtListener carries the public dockets: Giuffre v. Maxwell, U.S. v. Maxwell, U.S. v. Epstein, and the suit over the law's redactions. CourtListener ↗
  6. Read the law itself. The Epstein Files Transparency Act says what may be blacked out (survivors' identities, images of abuse, active investigations) and what may not (embarrassment, political sensitivity). H.R. 4405 ↗

Our ground rules for this page

  • Every entry links to an official record or a major news organization. If we could not source it, it is not here.
  • Appearing in Epstein's papers, photos, contact book or flight logs is not, by itself, evidence of a crime. We say what each record shows and no more, and we note denials.
  • Survivors are named only when they have spoken publicly under their own names.
  • We link to the government's own copies. We do not host leaked or unredacted files, and some official files describe abuse: read with care.
