U.S. Senate — Kansas · First run

Adam Hamilton

Adam Hamilton is the founding pastor of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, the largest United Methodist congregation in the country. He won a crowded 11-candidate Democratic primary on August 4, 2026, and polls in October show a close race against Republican Sen. Roger Marshall.

On the ballot against Roger Marshall (R)

Why it matters: Kansas has not elected a Democratic U.S. senator since 1939, so a Hamilton win would be a rare Democratic pickup in a Republican-held seat.

FEMA chief tells states to build their own disaster reserves as federal help shrinks

FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton told state emergency managers that changes to federal disaster aid could begin within six months, and that states should be able to handle most disasters without Washington. Texas flood victims are already recovering without FEMA's direct aid to households, and Democrats say families will pay the price.
