U.S. House — Virginia's 6th District · First run

Beth Macy

Beth Macy is a Roanoke author and former newspaper reporter who wrote Dopesick and is making her first run for office. She is challenging Republican Rep. Ben Cline in a district rated solidly Republican, though the DCCC added it to its 'in play' list in October 2026.

On the ballot against Ben Cline (R)

Why it matters: National Democrats say the district is now in play, but Cook and Sabato's Crystal Ball both rate it solidly Republican, and no Democrat has won the seat since 1990.
