U.S. Senate — Mississippi · First run

Scott Colom

Scott Colom is the district attorney for Mississippi's 16th Judicial District. He won the March 10 Democratic primary with about 73% of the vote and faces Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and independent Ty Pinkins in November. Recent polls show Hyde-Smith ahead by about 3 to 6 points, and Cook rates the race Likely Republican.

On the ballot against Cindy Hyde-Smith (R)

Why it matters: Democrats are trying to flip a deep-red seat. Sabato's Crystal Ball moved the race from Safe Republican to Likely Republican, and outside groups have spent millions on both sides.
