In an MS NOW interview, Vanita Gupta says that in fall 2024, as Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Todd Blanche filed papers saying the 30-day rule "should never be departed from," "and yet here we are." She says the president "had it in for Congresswoman Omar," and that HSI investigated Omar's immigration status in 2019 and closed the case because there was no evidence.

And you know the irony, or maybe I should call it the hypocrisy, is that in 2024 when Todd Blanche was actually the Donald Trump's personal lawyer in Trump the United States, he filed papers in the fall of 2024 saying that this 30 -day rule that these practices should never be departed from, and yet here we are. And so the president just had it in for Congresswoman Omar. What I think gets lost is that HSI actually did an investigation into her immigration status in 2019 and ended up closing the case because there was no evidence.
