In a cable news interview, Jim Himes says Trump's July claim that foreign powers are interfering in US elections is false, and that neither the president nor Todd Blanche has jurisdiction because the Constitution gives that authority to the states, overseen by Congress. He warns Trump will call the election 12 days away corrupt, and says he and Mark Warner, his Senate counterpart, are watching closely.

He's claiming as he did in July in a speech to the nation that foreign powers are interfering in our election. None of that is true. Fact one. Fact number two is that the federal government, Todd Blanche and the president have absolutely no jurisdiction over our elections. And you don't have to be a lawyer to know that. You can just go read the Constitution, which gives authority over our elections to the states overseen by Congress. And In fact, number three is he is going to claim that the election that is coming up in 12 days is corrupt in some way or another. One of the ways in which I and Mark Warner, my counterpart on the Senate side, are very attuned, there's all kinds of things he may try. Again, he loves that trope of millions or thousands or whatever it is of illegal aliens voting in our elections, which has never happened.
