At a church event at Greater Emmanuel in Detroit with Rep. Jim Clyburn, Abdul El-Sayed says attacks on his name and faith are meant to "pick your pocket." He blames high gas and grocery prices on Republican policies: the "illegal war in Iran," the "war with Canada" and the "big ugly bill." He also says the President and Vice President "can't keep my name out their mouth."

They are pointing to my name and my faith because they want to distract you. But when MAGA points to your name and faith, when they try to distract you, what they're trying to do is pick your pocket. My name and my faith are not the reason you can't afford your gas. That's right. Not the reason you can't afford your groceries. My name and my faith are the reason you can't see a doctor. My name and my faith are not the reason you're worried about your air or the quality of your schools. It is their policies that are doing that. It is their illegal war in Iran that is doing that. It is their terrible war with Canada that's doing that. It's their big ugly bill that is doing that. And we have an opportunity to push back. Now, you might have noticed the President and the Vice President can't keep my name out their mouth. They don't even know what my name is at the time. It's okay though. My job is to make sure that in a couple days they don't have to remember my name. They can go on and call me sender.
