There's a lot that hasn't quite sunk in yet, and I think the fact that I'll be, I will always be South Carolina's first elected female senator is one of those things that hasn't sunk in yet, but I did get to spend most of yesterday evening and this morning with my free children, including my two daughters, and I know that they're just so proud of me and I'm just proud that they're watching me do this. And I do think it's important that we elect women to all levels of government, especially moms who are in the thick of parenting. me because and as people know that being a mom of three children is one of the things that drove me into politics and I think we really desperately need that perspective particularly in the US Senate people who are in the thick of parenting right now who understand the challenges that we face whether it's you know the cost of groceries and gas or the cost of prescription drugs or you know social medias impact on our youth the mental health crisis on our youth and I just look forward to bringing my lived experience as both a mom and the pediatrician with me to DC.
