Trump says he offered press secretary job to UFC chief Dana White in Truth Social post

Trump posted on Truth Social that UFC CEO Dana White has been offered the press secretary job and asked him to bring fighters along. Neither White nor the White House has responded, and it is unclear whether the offer is serious.

President Trump said on Truth Social on Saturday afternoon that UFC CEO Dana White has been offered the job of White House press secretary, Raw Story reported. The UFC is the Ultimate Fighting Championship, a mixed martial arts league. The post included an image of White at the White House briefing room podium 1.

Trump wrote that White "has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States." He also asked White to bring along a group of fighters 1.

The fighters Trump named were Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and "Kayla Harris." Raw Story says Trump likely meant Kayla Harrison 1.

What we don't know

Raw Story reported no response from White or from the White House. It said it is "unclear whether the offer is serious" 1. We could not confirm that White has accepted, or that any formal appointment has been made.

Trump's post ended with a direct appeal. He wrote that "Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!" 1

The job's recent history

The press secretary job has been in flux. On Aug. 12, 2026, Trump announced on Truth Social that Karoline Leavitt would leave the role at the end of August to spend more time with her children and family 2.

Trump wrote that she "will continue on as one of my TOP outside Advisors." He did not name a replacement in that post 2. Newsweek reported that no successor had been named at the time of the announcement 3.

The sources we could read do not say who now holds the job. We are not reporting a current officeholder, because we could not confirm one.

Why it matters

That matters because the press secretary is the administration's daily voice to the public. Questions about Social Security, Medicare, prices and the war with Iran often reach older Americans through that podium.

Trump's post describes the job in political terms. He said he needs these people "to defend us against the Lunatic Left" 1. That is the president's own description of what he wants from a spokesperson. It is not a description of how the briefing room has traditionally worked.

What happens next is unclear. If White accepts, he would move from running a sports company to speaking for the White House. If the post turns out to be a joke or a trial balloon, the job stays open. We will update this report when White or the White House responds.

The Gop Files could not find a Democratic response in the reports we read. We will add one if it appears.
