U.S. House — Alabama's 2nd District

Shomari Figures

Shomari Figures is the Democratic congressman who won Alabama's 2nd District in 2024 and is seeking a second term. The district was redrawn by Republicans to be less Black and more Republican, and the only public poll found, a DCCC poll from July, showed him tied with state Rep. Rhett Marques at 46% each.

On the ballot against Rhett Marques (R)

Why it matters: The race is a key test of Alabama's redrawn congressional map after a Supreme Court ruling weakened the Voting Rights Act, and Republicans hope to sweep all seven of the state's House seats.
