Former Trump aide Caroline Sunshine says chief of staff Susie Wiles should resign
On Fox News, Caroline Sunshine blamed Wiles for Republican midterm losses and said Wiles should quit before Trump asks her to. It shows the blame fight starting inside Trump's circle.

Caroline Sunshine, a former staffer to President Trump, said on Wednesday that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles should resign. She blamed Wiles for the large losses Republicans took in the midterm elections 1.
Sunshine spoke on Fox News's "Jesse Watters Primetime." She said she would say "what a lot of people are saying privately" 1.

What Sunshine said
Sunshine said Wiles should offer her resignation "before he has to ask for it." She said Wiles's campaign skills "have not translated into governing" 1.
Sunshine gave Wiles credit for the 2024 win, which earned her the top staff job. She said Wiles was now "behind the historic loss where we lost Mississippi and have lost potentially the Senate for six years" 1.

The Mississippi Senate race has not been called. Democrat Scott Colom had 49.04 percent to Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith's 48.85 percent, according to Decision Desk HQ, The Hill's election partner 1.
Sunshine also said "a lot of this was staff failure, a lot of this was strategy and messaging failure." She said it is the chief of staff's job to manage the staff 1. She warned that Wiles staying could cost Republicans again in 2028 1.
What Trump has said about Wiles
Politico reported last month that Trump had received negative feedback about Wiles from allies. Trump dismissed the story as fake news and said Wiles has his full confidence 1.
Trump has praised Wiles many times. After she announced a breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, he called her "an amazing person." Wiles said in September that she was cancer free 1.
Other voices had already predicted a change. Former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said he expects Wiles to leave after the midterms. He said it would not be because "she's fallen out of favor with Trump," but because it is "a natural sort of time to make that change" 1.
Sarah Matthews, a former deputy press secretary in Trump's first term, said in October that Trump had floated replacement ideas to allies. She said one idea was deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, which she called "a terrifying prospect" 1.
A wider blame fight
The Daily Beast reported Thursday that blame among Republicans keeps leading back to Trump. It said Vice President JD Vance posted, "The reason we lost is the war," and Donald Trump Jr. endorsed that view 2.
The Daily Beast also said Sunshine called for ending the wars in Ukraine and Iran. Neither outlet reported a response from Wiles. The Daily Beast said the White House had not commented 2.
That matters because a chief of staff controls who reaches the president and how the White House runs. The pattern is that Republicans are now blaming staff, strategy, messaging and the war. What Trump decides about Wiles is the next thing to watch.
