Trump endorses Boebert for reelection months after calling her 'dumb' and 'weak-minded'
Days before Tuesday's midterms, President Trump gave Rep. Lauren Boebert his "Complete and Total Endorsement." In May he had threatened to pull his support. The reversal shows how Republicans are closing ranks for the final stretch.

President Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, for reelection. In May he had called her "dumb" and "weak-minded" and threatened to withdraw his support. The new endorsement came Friday, four days before Tuesday's midterm elections 1.
Trump called Boebert an "America First Patriot" and a "MAGA Warrior" who was "doing an incredible job representing Colorado's 4th Congressional District." He wrote that she has his "Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election" 1. Boebert said on X that she had just finished a "Tele Rally" with the president 1.
How the break started
The falling-out began in May. Boebert had campaigned for Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican who often criticizes Trump and was then fighting a primary challenger backed by the president 1.
Trump also wrote that he would be glad to withdraw his endorsement if "the right person came along" 1. Boebert responded that she was not mad or offended and that she would remain "America First, America Always, and MAGA" 1.

Later that month she told Denver station 9NEWS that she did not see the president's treatment as abuse. She said her support for him "has not changed" 1.
The race in Colorado's 4th District
Boebert faces Democrat Eileen Laubacher, who spent 34 years in the Navy and retired in 2024. The two held their only scheduled debate on October 12 1. The 4th is Colorado's most Republican-leaning district. Trump lost Colorado to Kamala Harris by 11 points in 2024 but carried the 4th by 18.3 points 2.
Trump attacked Laubacher as a "Radical Left Democrat." He claimed she opposed no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and no tax on Social Security 1.
Newsweek reported that this conflicts with her stated views. Laubacher told The Colorado Sun this month that the tax breaks for tipped and overtime workers in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act should be made permanent. She also said she supports the law's larger child tax credit and would raise it further 1.
Trump had endorsed Boebert before. He did so on July 18, 2025, calling her a "MAGA Warrior" 2. Boebert called that endorsement a great honor and said it was her fourth from him 2.
Trump also urged Colorado voters on Friday to back Republican candidates Jeff Hurd, Boebert, Jeff Crank and Gabe Evans, saying all of them had his "Complete and Total Endorsement" 1. Newsweek said it asked the White House and both campaigns for comment 1.
What it signals
That matters because Trump's May threat is gone, and the party's final-week message is unity. The pattern is that loyalty to Trump personally, not past words, decides who gets his backing.
What happens next is simple. Voters in Colorado's 4th District decide on Tuesday, November 3. Republicans and Democrats are fighting for control of the House on the same day 1.
