President Donald Trump's publicly traded business assets fell sharply Wednesday, the morning after Democrats won control of the House and Senate, according to The Guardian 1.
Trump Media and Technology Group stock, which trades on the Nasdaq exchange, was priced at just over five dollars Tuesday morning, its lowest mark ever and down from an all-time high of $101, the Guardian reported. It lost 11% overnight, dropping from $5.90 once election returns started coming in 1. Trump has reported owning 114 million shares of the company, whose ticker is DJT, and holds more than 40% through a trust 1.
The family's crypto venture also fell. World Liberty Financial digital tokens were trading at less than 5 cents after the election, down from 31 cents at their height in 2025, according to the Guardian. The WLFI coin, the governance token of World Liberty Financial, began sliding in late October as the election drew near and a hack of the Binance exchange rattled crypto markets, then fell steeply around 7 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday as polls in some states closed 1.
Separate novelty coins called Trump$, which made the president $636 million in sales in 2025, appeared to have lost about 10% of their value overnight as results came in, the Guardian reported. They launched shortly before his inauguration and briefly traded as high as $45 in January 2025 1.

The declines do not mean Trump has lost money overall. Forbes estimated in a September analysis that he is $2.7 billion wealthier than when he won the White House in 2024, and he already made over $500 million in profit selling crypto assets last year, according to his personal financial disclosures 1. He owns 15 billion WLFI tokens, the Guardian reported 1.
Jim Angel, an associate professor at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, said the value of both DJT and WLFI has always been tied to how Trump is perceived.
People think they’re investing in Trump. They really aren’t. They’re really betting on his popularity. That’s what they’re betting on.
World Liberty Financial is a venture created by the Trump family and the family of Steven Witkoff, a personal friend and real estate developer whom Trump appointed to negotiate diplomatic arrangements about Gaza, Iran and Ukraine, the Guardian reported. The company also issues a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar, and the Trump administration recently gave it a banking license 1.
The president publicly accepted the result. In a call with CBS News, he said his message was "congratulations to the Democrats, and I look forward to working with you for the good of our country," The Hill reported 4. He also told the outlet he "wasn't on the ballot, and there was nothing that could be done about that" 4.
On Fox News, Trump said voters just "didn't like the candidates," adding of Republicans that "They fought hard. They've been fighting for a long time," according to The Hill 4. Earlier, he wrote on Truth Social: "And if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!" 4.
The pattern is that investors in these assets are betting on Trump's popularity rather than on a business, as Angel described it, so a midterm rebuke lands directly on the share price and the coin price 1. That matters for the roughly 114 million DJT shares Trump reports owning and for the family's crypto holdings, whose paper value moves with the same signal 1.
What happens next depends on markets rather than on any announced plan: the Guardian reported no company statement or recovery plan, only the Wednesday price moves and the election-night slide 1. The White House did not comment in the copy reviewed for this brief.
