Gina Hinojosa, the Texas Democratic nominee for governor, lays out her agenda in an MS NOW interview with Antonia Hylton. She says she would fire Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath on day one and put an educator in the job, suspend the state gas and diesel tax, freeze electricity rates and make corporations, including data centers, pay their fair share. She also says she would issue a high-cost emergency proclamation allowing the legislature to send her a bill refunding $1,500 to every Texas household.

My agenda is to secure the American dream I have already said that what I will do on day one is fire the Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Marath and put an educator in that position I will suspend state gas and diesel Tax because gas prices and diesel prices are way too high and so many Texans rely on their diesel Trucks just to make a living I will freeze electricity rates and make sure corporations including the data centers are paying their fair share. We have the most people being disconnected from their electricity because they cannot afford to pay their bills here in Texas, right? I will declare a high cost emergency issued emergency proclamation that allows the legislature to deliver a bill to my desk to refund $1500 to every Texas household again.
